About Us

Pastor Derek grew up in San Clemente Calfornia and became born again in 1991. He married Nicholle 1995 and they have two boys, Spencer and Samuel. Pastor Derek has been involved in college ministry, church planting, and bible teaching. He recevied his BA in Pastoral Studies from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois and  is currently pursuing graduate work in biblical exegesis. He enjoys hunting, fishing, baseball (Angels fan of course), surfing, and starting to get involved in disk golf.

Pastor Eddie’s aspiration is to equip each and every one of the FBC youth to grow into a deep and intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. There is nothing more important in this life than knowing our Lord and Savior and walking with Him on a daily basis. Pastor Eddie believes that our only foundation for this life is God’s inerrant Word (the Bible), and that through prayer and discipleship, our youth can grow in the grace and knowledge of our incredible Lord. He has served on active duty in the United States Navy for the past 19 years as a helicopter Rescue Swimmer. He is married to his wonderful wife Sarah, who together have two children, Seth and Amy. In his off time, he enjoys playing the drums, woodworking, and hanging out with the family.

Jay Roth grew up in North Dakota where he met his wife Heather.  In 1997, they moved to California and now have two children, Payton and Keaton.  Jay was working as a plumber until 2001, when he suffered a spinal cord injury.  He thus returned to school earning a degree in Economics from Cal State San Marcos.  Jay and his family were blessed to find First Baptist Church in 2002 and have been attending since then. 

Jimmy Chavez was born in El Paso TX on St Patricks Day but was raised in Wilmington CA where he was saved in 1974.  He married his hometown sweetheart Barbara, and later along with their two daughters CeCe and LeLe they moved to Sun City 26 years ago, they have been attending FBC ever since then.  Jimmy works as a freelance package designer but spends his free time teasing his grand children!

Howard Trudo grew up in Nebraska and San Diego, California.  While stationed in Guam with the US Air Force, he accepted Christ in 1964.  He met his wife Terry in Junior High School and they later married in 1965.  They have two daughters,  five grandchildren and one great grandson.  He has served in Church  Missions in Mexican orphanages, and one trip to Africa with the Fillani people group.  He was an Elder for 3 years at a past church and now at First Baptist Church.  In the past he has enjoyed wood working and fixing up  the house, and now enjoys gardening.

Debbie has been married to Ron for 26 years, they are from Montana and have 2 children, Christopher and Melissa.They moved to California in 1988.  They have been members here since 1998. Debbie has worked in the FBC office since 1998. She enjoys crafting, reading and spending time with her family and friends. She has worked in many aspects of ministry here from Sunday school to AWANA but now is active with the Women's Ministry Team.
